Baby’s First Year photo session in Ridgewood

I did a preview of this session with one year old Ms. Alexandra some time ago and here is a proper session spotlight.  We had to reschedule this session several time:  first, when this family’s Ridgewood home was damaged in the aftermath of Sandy, then when a big snow storm affected our plans.  But third time was the charm, and Mother Nature decided to make up by giving us a gorgeous early spring day for this session.

I love doing family sessions in my clients’ homes and I do travel for sessions all over Bergen County and NYC. I find that adults feel most comfortable and themselves in their own homes, and kids love being in familiar environments surrounded by their favorite toys, books, etc.  Please don’t worry if your house does not look like something from pages of catalogs – it does not need to be spacious or have expensive decor – as long as there is natural light, we’ll get great family images!  Of course, if your house does look like something from a catalog, that cannot hurt:)  I just LOVED Ms. Alexandra’s room – grey and pink – although not a typical ‘girl’ color combination – looked absolutely beautiful – not too girly yet very soothing and gentle.  She walked everywhere with her lovey – ‘lampchop’, which was pink and matched the room perfectly:)

Ms. A just turned a year old and this was a session to capture this huge milestone.  Not all babies can walk by this age (one of mine did not!) but this little one was DEFINITELY a walker – always (at least during the session) on the go:)  She did pause a bit to play and snuggle with her Mommy.  But then her  Daddy made an appearance and Ms. A, being a Daddy’s Girl – went straight to Daddy.  As her Mom says, when Daddy is anywhere near, Mommy is ‘chopped liver’ and I could definitely see that – this little girl has eyes only for her Daddy when he is close by.  Having two girls myself, I am very partial about relationships between Dads and their little girls!   And I am glad that I was able to capture cuddles and smiles both with both of her parents!
