Good bye to the sweetest dog ever

I’ve been quiet lately and here is why – our sweet puppy – one year four months old Wheaten Terrier named Millie was hit by a car and died as I held her, on the way to the hospital, on Wednesday August 30th.  Anybody who spent any time with me during last year knows how much I loved her – she was my third baby, my sweet companion, my running partner, my little shadow.  My days were built around her walks

She was a 33 lbs ball of love, energy and personality. We’d had her only for one year two months and five days but she brought us an immense amount of joy during this short time. Her life was short but full – she went on many hikes and family trips, swam in a lake and napped in a swing chair, went on long walks and did many runs, had doggie playdates and went to doggie daycare, enjoyed time on a farm in a training camp and had many yummy treats, she got dressed up for Halloween and Christmas, she had many friends and even her own instagram account.

She was funny, sweet, very energetic and full of love. She was the fastest dog I know – running around ahead of her friends with her ears flapping behind her; she jumped up as if she had springs in her paws; she leaped to and from patio tables; she wanted to say ‘hello’ to every dog and human she saw; she loved carrying sticks (the bigger the better) and run after balls; she loved to play with neighborhood kids in our backyard and climb up the slide; she loved to head-plow in the snow and run through sprinklers.

The girls adored her and and even Victor, who is not a dog person, fell in love with her.  We miss her terribly but slowly getting used to life without Millie.

I like to think that Millie is running around in Doggie Heaven, attacking sprinkles, shredding toilet paper and making lots and lots of friends:
