Day Trip to Asbury Park | New Jersey photographer

Last year for spring break we planned an elaborate two week long European road trip through Austria, Slovenia and Italy (with an impromptu trip to Germany!)  We all had the most amazing time, and I took thousands of pictures that I am almost done editing:)  By the way – a blog post regarding that great vacation will be on a blog sometime in the future:)

This year we kept it very casual and stayed local with not many plans at all except for playing with friends in the backyard, visiting grandparents and cousins in Brooklyn, having lunches in town and going to the movies.  The only ‘travel’ we did this spring break was our day trip adventure to Asbury Park NJ with our friends.  I’ve never been to Asbury Park but lots of people recommended it and we figured that it would be a perfect destination for us.  And it surely was!  The weather was absolutely perfect – sunny and warm, the sights were colorful and stunning and the company (my friend and our kids) were great!  I was glad that I brought my big camera with me because this place is so picturesque as you can see for yourselves!

We took pictures of cool graffiti:

rode ripsticks on a boardwalk:

saw a million ladybugs:

ran on the beach:

and collected sea shells:

had lunch at a very cool restaurant (seriously, you gotta check out Porta if you are in Asbury Park area!)

got our fill of old fashion pinball machines at the Silverball Museum:

did some more ripsticking:

and made our way back home!

If you are anywhere in New Jersey and looking for a super fun day trip with kids I cannot recommend Asbury Park highly enough!   And if you would like to have your family or children pictures taken there let me know – I would LOVE to do a proper photoshoot in that cool place!

First beach day of the season | New Jersey photographer

I don’t think I ever mentioned it here but we live on the best street – there are 11 kids on our block and they all get along great (most of the time!).  One of my neighbors (incidentally a mom of twin boys!) and I have been talking to play hookie and go to the beach with the kids one summer day…. things like bad weather and work kept getting in the way but the stars have finally aligned this week and on the first day of summer break we made it happen!

The kids did awesome on the drive down to Sandy Hook (they may’ve been lots of silly songs sang and shopkins traded), the weather was absolutely perfect, the beach not too crowded and the water – not very cold!    They all had such a blast playing in waves, running on the beach, collecting cool shells and rocks and building sand sculptures!  And what made the trip even cooler is that we ran into another family from our school – it was funny that we traveled all the way down to the shore and ended up setting shop next to another Ridgewood family:)   And to finish off a perfect beach day we headed to Inlet Cafe and had some of the best lobster rolls I’ve ever had!!  Summer is off to a great start!

A 10 minutes beach photo shoot | Ocean City photographer

Every year during our family beach vacation in Ocean City New Jersey we go to the beach where I photograph Victor and the girls.  And each year this photo session takes about an hour or so.   This year we had to do a super-expedited version because the second we pull up by the beach to do the shoot, it started raining and we saw lighting!  I was so disappointed (convincing my girls to wear dresses takes forever!) and even thought about skipping our annual beach photo shoot.  But when we started to drive back home the rain stopped, we did not see any more lighting so we decided to try our luck and headed back to the beach.

The sky looked very menacing so I knew I had to work fast.   And knowing my girls (and the fact that they never take direction from me) I just decided to let them do what they wanted to know, which was run around on the beach.  And would not you know it, 10 minutes into the shoot we heard thunder and it started raining hard so we had to pack up and leave.  But I am pretty happy with the beach photos I was able to get in literally 10 minutes!

A day on the (snow covered) beach | Bergen County Photographer

We love Jersey Shore and go to a beach vacation in Ocean City every summer.   But we were wondering what it looks like in the winter covered in snow and over the weekend we took a day trip to Sandy Hook.  It looked even more beautiful that we expected – although my girls were a little disappointed not to see ‘frozen waves’.  But despite that, we all had a blast walking on frozen bay, building snow castles on the beach and playing every variation of a snow/ice game you can think of:)

And afterward we went to Barhr’s Landing for a very late lunch – which was a perfect ending to our trip to the shore!  If you are in Ridgewood or nearby towns, I highly recommend checking out Sandy Hook in the winter – it is only about an hour away but seems like a completely different world!

I am back from a trip to the Shore

Our trip to the shore was absolutely WONDERFUL and I am now refreshed, relaxed and ready to take on hundreds of projects I have planned!

I was looking forward to taking some family pictures of Victor and the girls together on the beach and we dedicated two evenings for mini-shoots.   I am getting more and more into lifestyle photography – I think it works great for family sessions – and it was a perfect fit for photographing my girls on the beach.  Overall I took around 700 images (not too many at all considering it was a 7 day trip!)  and will be working on them and posting highlights from our vacation shortly.

In the meantime here is one of my favorite lifestyle images from this trip – I love the connection between these two!
