Downtown Ridgewood fall family photo session | Ridgewood photographer

This was my second session photographing adorable Ms. E – first time I met her was for her Ridgewood studio photo session when she was a year old.  This was the first time when I photographed this whole family though and it was a blast!    These guys chose downtown Ridgewood as a location for their fall family photo session.  I’ve said it so many times that Ridgewood is a great little town for Bergen County photo sessions – I have clients come here from all over – Tenafly, Franklin Lakes, Cloister, etc.  And for families who live in Ridgewood, like these guys, having a photoshoot in downtown makes it even more special because that’s their town.  One year we had our own family session in Ridgewood because it is so cute and I wanted to capture the town of my kids’ childhood in pictures.

This family session was just perfect – the weather was great,Ms. E was absolutely adorable (always on the go!) and the family was so happy and absolutely in love with their little girl.  You may think that I only chose images in which they are laughing but that’s how every single image from this session was – genuine laughter and joy of being together!

Fun Bergen County extended family photo session with long time clients | Ridgewood photographer

You know what they say  – “man plans, God Laughs?”  That is what happened with this Ridgewood family photo session with one of my oldest clients.  For their extended family session (they had family visiting from out of country and wanted to get images of everybody together) we thought that it would be nice to split the session into two: we would start downtown with a session with  the immediate family of three – Mom, Dad and one of my favorite girls in the world – G.and and then head over to their house for the extended family portion of a photo shoot.   Well that’s not how it worked out (we’ve got a smoked chicken to blame for that!) and instead we ended up photographing four girls downtown.  It was definitely a different session from what we had it mind but probably a more fun one – there was lots of hugging and laughing and jumping and ice cream eating:)

and then we did go back to their Ridgewood home for the second part of the photoshoot – and there was more hugging and laughing and even some pool diving:)

I am seriously very lucky to have such amazing clients – who come back to me year after year after year, allow me to watch their kids grow from adorable toddlers to beautiful girls (and boys), who laugh with me and give me hugs when I need them.

Bergen county family photo session

Last time I photograph this Ridgewood family was a few years ago – it was so great seeing them again.  I was completely amazed at how much older the girls got (from adorable little girls they are way on her way to turning into beautiful young ladies) – yet the parents somehow managed to look younger than ever!:)

You may know this about me – I absolutely LOVE color – all my personal photo shoots are full of colorful outfits.  And when my clients share my love of color it makes me super happy. So you can imagine how THRILLED I was when this Mom showed me her awesome colorful jacket and said that she wanted to use it for the pictures.  We picked out amazing mustard pants for her husband from his closet – and he totally ROCKED them!  Add cool outfits for the girls with cute accessories and we were set for the session.

As I do for a lot of my Signature Photo session clients, we split up the session between their beautiful Ridgewood home (their backyard is absolutely stunning!) and downtown Ridgewood.  I love having family sessions at peoples homes – I think that capturing the place you live in images is really priceless and years down the road you will love having these images.  Besides, where else would you feel more ‘at home’ then … at your home?:)

And downtown Ridgewood is one of my favorite places in Bergen County for family photo sessions .  It is such a quaint little town (I had clients from the city come here for sessions!) and if you live here it makes it even more special having a photo shoot done there – I did it for my own family session a few years ago.    I did not realize this about Ridgewood till I went location scouting but it is full of really cool urban spots that photograph really well and it makes a perfect backdrop for family photos. And after you are done with your photoshoot you have plenty of wonderful restaurants to go to to celebrate an end of a great family photo session, which is what these guys did:)

Live Love Laugh Photos is an award-winning Bergen County family photographer with a photography studio located in Ridgewood New Jersey.   If you are interested in family photos this fall look no further and reach out to us to schedule your family or children photo session.

Lazy days of summer | bergen county family photographers

Yesterday for the last day of school for my kids and tomorrow is the first day of several of our summer trips – summer is officially here!

A couple of years ago I realized that despite spring being my favorite season, I actually do really LOVE summer.I love laid back days with no schedule or agenda, sleeping in (well, as much as I can sleep in with my dog asking me to go for a morning walk), reading in bed, going to the pool, watching movies, having picnics, watching my kids and their friends play in the backyards and run through sprinkles, eating ice cream and enjoying lazy evenings with my neighbors in our backyards.   I remember working a lot over the last few summers and feeling that I did not get to enjoy summer much at all because of all the sessions I had planned.  And as many articles on my FB feed keep reminding me, you only have 18 summers with your kids at home before they leave the nest go to off to collage; my girls are nine now which means that half of those summers are already behind us.

I don’t want this summer to pass me by while I am too busy editing and shooting and marketing and doing all those business things that I do really enjoy but that take a lot of time.  So this summer I am making a conscious decision to make it easy, to relax and recharge, give myself permission to be lazy and really ENJOY it.  I will take a very limited number of sessions this summer (most of them while my girls are in collage) and will do some off-line work (again when my kids are in camp) but will try my absolute will best to be present and enjoy every moment of it.
