Last time I photographed these guys they were a family of 5 – it was great seeing them again, as a family of SIX this time! They came to my Ridgewood photo studio to get pictures for their holiday cards. We’ve got lots of great images of them smiling but my absolutely favorite one is this one – it is just so real!:)
Loved seeing these handsome guys at their Christmas mini session at my Ridgewood studio. They drove 1.5 hours (EACH WAY!) to get to this session – needless to say that I am beyond honored that they choose to come back to me for their pictures year after year! I do have the best clients in the world:)
Every since since I opened my Ridgewood photo studio, around my girls’ birthday I bring them to the studio for their annual studio birthday photoshoot. This is how the idea of offering Milestones sessions was born by the way – I loved having annual images of my girls and wanted every parent to have an opportunity to capture their kids getting older, documenting their special toys, books and and everything that makes them who they are.
Each year I photograph them I think about how grown up they look and then when I look at these images the following year I realize that they still looked like babies! Here are the pictures for the girls 7 year old photoshoot and here are from the 6 year old shoot. And I am sure when I look at these pictures next year I will think that my girls looked like babies:) Looking through these images brings me back to the time when my girls were 6 and 7 – they make me remember what toys they played with, what books they read, what silly expressions they made and that’s really priceless.
So parents, don’t put off photographing your children – they grow and change so quickly – you blink and the chubby cheeks and bellies are gone; you blink again and baby teeth are out, you blink once more and their faces are all thinned out and their smiles look different. So bring out your camera (and not your cell phone!) and photograph them with their favorite things, things that you will want to remember down the road. And if you can – hire a professional to do so because some things are best left to professionals and I think capturing family memories is one of them.
And after we finished with the studio portion of the pictures Alexa asked me to photograph her on her ripstick – which she absolutely ROCKS!
I was going to write a nice blog post about photographing these beautiful, funny and spunky kids and their gorgeous momma at my Ridgewood studio. I was going to write about how I hard laughed watching K. dance to Meghan Trainor or listening to her ‘directing me’ and asking me to take a picture of her feet and the feet of her doll (which I did!) or how funny her expressions where or how she was the feistiest 6 year old I’ve seen in a long time. And I was going to write about her sweet brother J. who loves his blankieand his stuffed; and how sweet his giggles were and how much he loved snuggling with his Momma. But instead I will just use a few quotes their Mom posted on FB when she saw their pictures:
“We did a session with Lena today and she was magic. She gave me permission to not stress about my kids and their behavior. She made them feel so comfortable and relaxed. She coaxed out their real personalities by inviting through fun, humor, and laughter – and encouraging them to bring along their favorite toys (in this case a blankie and favorite stuffed animals). It was just so good!!! This my friends, is why Lena Antaramian does what she does and is who she is.
Anyone can take a photo. But to capture the true essence of a 4 year old is a whole other story! This is literally a snap shot of J. at 4 years old. His every night. His ‘guys’. His ‘blankie’. His world. His life. His brain. His experience. And somehow, Lena captured it in a 30 minute session. Thank you mama!!!!”
She gets me… This is exactly why I do what I do and why I love it so.
Even more winter wonderland cuteness from Ridgewood studio holiday mini sessions. This is my first session with this family this year – last time I photographed them baby L. was just a newborn – it was great seeing how much she has changed in just a few short months!
