Ridgewood Studio family session

I am known for my on-location family photography and I love photographing my clients at their favorite spots all over Bergen county – be in their homes, parks, apple orchards, etc. But I also love my Ridgewood natural light photography studio and I am especially grateful for having it in the winter. Knowing that I have a beautiful place with amazing natural light (and plenty of studio lights in case the weather is not cooperating) to do sessions is very comforting.

I love my studio for variety of sessions but some of my favorites to do at the studio are family sessions for families with older kids. There are no distractions, no props, I don’t ask them to run around or tell them silly jokes – instead we just focus on capturing timeliness photos that I think families will treasure for years to come!

Another Day Another Industry Recognition

You guys – I am THRILLED to announced that an image of mine received a Recognition of Merit at the National Association of Professional Children Photographers International Image Competition! This is one of the most respected photography competition in the industry and to have recognize one of my images is a huge honor!

As a Bergen County family photographer, it’s no surprise that my first photography love and passion is photographing children and families. But since opening my Ridgewood photo studio back in 2013 (wow, I can’t believe I’ve had my studio for over 9 years!!!) I started to learn studio lighting and I do have to say I really enjoy creating dramatic portraits like this one!

Style Galore in Ridgewood | Bergen County Studio Photos

I’ve said it many time and I will say it many times again – I just love natural light at my Ridgewood photo studio! This photography studio works well for so many types of photoshoots but my favorite sessions to do there are definitely milestone photoshoots. During these studio session the whole focus is on your kids. I always ask parents to bring a few books, toys, etc that are meaningful to them – that, in my opinion, makes photos even more special. And what we get at the end are fun, light, modern and very natural photos of your children.

This Mom reached out because she wanted to capture her baby boy’s great smile and ‘him being himself’ and that’s exactly what we did. This little guy rocked his photoshoot and looked super stylish with his suspenders, bowtie and a hat! And his smile was the icing on the cake!

Teen Studio Portraits in Ridgewood – My Kids turn 14!

One of our traditions is to do an annual studio birthday photoshoot with my kids around their birthday. When we started this tradition (9 years ago!) they did not really enjoy having their photos taken and while I loved the end results, I did not enjoy the process. But as they got older, they started to appreciate it more and now their birthday photoshoot is something both my kids actually look forward to.

This year the birthday session was a bit different. A few weeks prior to this photoshoot I spent two full days learning the ins and outs of studio lighting from Lindsay Adler – a fashion photographer and a master of studio light whose worked has been published all over the place. In just two days I’ve learned so much and I could not wait to practice my newly acquired knowledge and to use my newly purchased equipment (anyone who knows me would not be surprised to hear that after the workshop I order a whole lot of studio lighting ‘toys’:)

So at this session we created fun natural images using natural light but then went for something more dramatic with studio lighting. And if you like what you see and want to have similar images of your own kids reach out to me!

Teen studio photoshoot in Bergen County

When this Mom first reached out to me she told me that she did not really have any good photos of her kids, they were growing up and she really wanted to capture her kids ‘as they are’ right now. They came dressed in their every day clothes (which I love) and the Mom told her that her ideal vision of the session would be images that I would capture if I just ‘came to hang out at their house’. And I believe we did just that!

When the Mom saw the photos she said ” So cute!! Exactly what I wanted. Casual and real”!
