Family Fun

Here is a spotlight of a Ridgewood/Wyckoff family session that I had back in the fall.  This family may look familiar – I shared a collage of canvases that I did for them with images from their session a few weeks ago.  And if you liked those images read on as there are a many more images shared below!

I’ve said it many times and I will say it again – I get to meet and photograph the nicest families – I must’ve done something right in my prior life to deserve such wonderful clients:)  I was looking forward to photographing them ever since I met the Mom and Grandma in person at their pre-session consultation.  Both of them were so sweet, easy going and just plain nice!

Deciding what to wear for a family photo session is not an easy task.  I know this from experience – picking out outfits for my own family sessions is quite a long process with lots of time spent planning, shopping, putting things together, changing my mind, etc.  And I know what looks good in pictures, which colors go well together, which pieces photograph well…. So that’s why I offer a complimentary wardrobe consultation for all my Signature Sessions.  I want to make it as easy and stress free for my clients as possible… This Mom, like a lot of my Signature Session clients, took advantage of this service and I had fun playing a fashion consultant for a day picking several outfits for the family.  I have to say that in addition to all her great qualities, this Mom has the most organized closet I’ve EVER seen!  Seriously, it looks like it belongs on the pages of Real Simple magazine or something like that – I was SO impressed and inspired to reorganized my own closet when I got home:)

Ms. G – the little girl who is the heart of the family – is the same age as my Mia and Alexa, and is a darling.  She reminded me so much of Mia – her sunny disposition, curly hair and even an occasional ‘oopsy daisy’:)  She chatted up a storm and kept me laughing and entertained throughout the whole session.  We parted with hugs and kisses and plans for playdates with my girls, which all three of them really loved!

We decided to split the session between the family’s house in Ridgewood and a park in Wyckoff.   We started with dressier outfits and more traditional images at home and then went to a park in Wyckoff to continue this family session in a more casual setting.  If you’ve been following me for a while or spent just a few minutes browsing my site, you know that even my more traditional family portraits are very authentic and laid back, as you can see below:)

I love photographing families outdoors and one of parks in Wyckoff is one of my favorite locations for family sessions – it looks great and is tons of fun during any season.  But in the fall, it is one of the best places for leaf throwing:)

This was a wonderful family session and I am thrilled that I was able to capture priceless memories for one more Ridgewood family!
