Sandy Update

Wow – what a week and a half this has been!  Hurricane Sandy knocked out our power (and with that our TV, internet, heat, phone and all the creature conforts we are so used to!) for 10 days!  It really messed up with my editing schedule as well as sessions – I had to reschedule so many of them and now playing catch up try to fit all my clients in to make sure they are able to get their family portraits done before the end of the year.

But it also allowed me to spend so much more time at home with Victor and the girls at home – and spending time with family during a very busy holiday season is a very rare luxury for a busy family photographer!  It was so nice to hunker down at home, and just be.

baked chocolate cakes and made beef stews while the girls were waiting for Sandy:

they played in our brand new family room:

and goofed around:

dressed up and danced:

and built stuff:

The night of the storm we all slept on the ground floor in the living room fore the fear of trees falling on the house and crushing upstairs.  The girls loved this ‘adventure’ and ever since the storm keep asking us when we will have another one of these adventures.  They started a ‘bounce party’:

Halloween was officially cancelled in New Jersey but our dear friends invited us to a ‘trunk-or-treat’: a make-shift trick-or-treating where people were giving out candy from the trunks of their cars.  It was beyond cute, the girls got to wear their costumes and got way too much candy!

and thanks to Sandy and lack of power, I got to take images of the girls in candle-light that I absolutely adore!

So that’s my silver lining in this awful storm.  But this storm has left so many people without even the tiniest of silver linings so if you can at all, please help me in my fund-raising efforts (see here and here).  Thanks to all and be safe!
