I love photographing newborns but photographing babies who I’ve ‘met’ in utero – at their Mom’s maternity sessions is even more special to me.  Baby Madeleine’s newborn session falls into latter category – I first ‘met’ her at her Mom’s maternity session and along with the rest of her family was eagerly waiting for her to make her debut.  So as soon as she arrived her newborn session was set up.

Madeleine’s Mom is the sweetest ever and I was so looking forward to seeing her in her new role as a Mom – she looked so beautiful and was radiating happiness and love – it was pretty amazing to see:)  And who would not – little Madeleine was absolutely PERFECT!  I got to meet Madeleine’s Nana, who was sooo nice and sweet and really helpful at the shoot:)  To take traditional newborn images – of cuddly sleepy babies the key is to have a baby fast asleep but Madeleine had other plans – she did not want to miss on the excitement and sleep through her first professional photo session and fought sleep for a long long time.  But eventually even determined little girls, like Madeleine, get tired and she did fall asleep.

I love including pieces that have sentimental value in family photographs and tell all my families to think about and if possible, have these items ready for their sessions.  Madeleine’s Mom was more than prepared with lots of great items but my absolutely favorite was this Christmas ornament.  They announced their pregnancy with this ‘Wish’ ornament inside of which was a hand written note with their baby’s name!  I got teary eyed when I heard this story so of course I took a picture of their wish come true:)

Madeleine’s parents did such an amazing job with her nursery – I loved their semi unusual color combination – yellow and grey – it looked so soothing and calming!

I absolutely loved working with this family and looking forward to see and capture Madeleine grow at future family sessions!
