Family photos in Ridgewood | Three kids, two parents and one dog

We chose downtown Ridgewood as a location for this Ridgewood family photo session – Ridgewood is so picturesque and has so many cool spots for family sessions – there is a park (great for little kids) and lots of urban spots (great for not-so0 little kids, like these three).    These guys were so so easy to photograph – they were relaxed and laid back and were cracking at each other’s jokes so much that I hardly needed to do anything to make them laugh!  I can only imagine the laughter in their house – when they are not being posed by a photographer:)

Being a dog person I love when people want to include their dogs in their family photos – dogs ARE family and as such I think they should definitely be part of family photo sessions.   And I was thrilled that these guys decided to bring their handsome golden retriever for their session – he, just like the other three kids, was very well behaved!

2017 Year in Pictures | Ridgewood photographer

At the beginning of each year I put together my Year in Pictures slideshow with images from all family and children sessions I’ve done prior year.  I love seeing all these images together, remembering laughter and silly faces.  I am a lucky lucky girl because I get to capture all these amazing memories for all these wonderful families!   This slideshow made me smile – watch it and I am sure it will put a smile on your face as well!

Bergen County Christmas photos at Ridgewood photo studio

I have the most amazing clients – these guys drove over TWO hours (EACH WAY) for their Christmas photos at my Ridgewood photo studio!  Every year their Mom picks out the coolest outfits and she did not disappoint this year either – loved their PJs, hand knitted Santa hats and very stylish ensembles they changed into after the PJs portion of the Christmas photos was done.   Cannot wait to see them all again next year!

Fall family photos in Ridgewood and at Ho Ho Kus brook

Family photographer has always been my first love – I just love photographing families, capturing bonds between brothers and sisters, mothers and sons, dads and daughters.  Throw in a dog or two into the mix and I am in heaven!  And while I love my Ridgewood photo studio (it is great for so many different types of photoshoots) I truly believe that no location is as perfect for a family as their family home; noone feels more at home than well, at their home! 🙂

But I also love to incorporate families loves and interests in their sessions so I was beyond thrilled when these guys chose to split their photoshoot between their Ridgewood home and a fishing brook in the nearby Ho Ho Kus where they go fishing pretty often.  This session was a blast – little sister M. a natural in front of the camera – she was silly and was hamming it up for the camera – I can definitely see Broadway in her future! 🙂  Her big brother T was not that thrilled about the idea of having his pictures taken (I get it.. it may not seem like such an exciting prospect to a 10 year old) but I brought out my love for Harry Potter and we bonded over that instantly!  He was the one kept showing me cool tricks he could do on his bike and asking me to take pictures of him doing them!

And at the end of the session when I asked the kids what they thought of their photoshoot big brother T said it was ‘good’, which I think is the biggest compliment you can receive from a 5th grade boy!:)   And as if that was not enough this Mom told me that she loved having sessions with me (these guys are repeat clients) not only because pictures come out great but because I really get kids and that’s the reason why I can capture images that truly reflect who these kids are.. And that, my friends, is exactly what I strive to do!
