Maternity sessions are quickly becoming some of my favorites – they are  so fun and invigorating.  AND I get to capture the excitement that couples and families feel when they are about to experience the most amazing miracle there is – the birth of their child!

This maternity photo-shoot was a baby shower gift from M.’s friends.  M. told me that’s what her girlfriends do for each other – as a baby shower gift they give a professional maternity photo session.  What a unique gift idea, if I may say so myself!  I am sure these images will last longer than other gifts from a baby shower.

M. said that she wanted high energy natural images so I thought that an urban maternity session in downtown Ridgewood would be a great fit for this couple.  Besides, they just recently moved to Bergen County so it was a nice way for them to experience what our cute little town has to offer – including giant pancakes for breakfast after the session at the Pancake House🙂

As you can see from the images below, M. is simply stunning – she looks like a movie start with a cute fake bump!   She is one of those beautiful pregnant people that you rarely meet in ‘real’ life:)  Judging from her maternity clothes M. has an impeccable fashion sense as well – she showed me a few outfits she selected for the session and each one was better than the one before!  And on top of that, she rocked high heels – how impressive is that??? – I have a hard time wearing heels like that being not pregnant!

During our pre-session consultation M. said that she wanted her husband to be at least in a few of them.  I can proudly report that we accomplished that!  Dad-to-Be –  J. was game for anything and we got so many wonderful images of them together.  I can just picture their child looking at these maternity images and seeing how happy her parents were waiting for her arrival!

As you can see from these maternity images, these two were so relaxed and natural and did a great job being themselves and ‘ignoring’ my big camera pointing at them.  I had the most fun time photographing them!

M. asked me for an image of her ‘barefoot and pregnant’, so here it is:)
