The importance of having a professional photo session – do as I do! | Ridgewood photographer

As you can imagine I have TONS of pictures of my girls, of my husband, of my girls TOGETHER with my husband.  I even have some pictures with me in them, taken by my very talented husband.  But despite all that, I think there is nothing like professional family pictures and every year we hire a photographer to capture us as a family.

I truly believe that being in front of the camera at least once a year at my OWN family session, makes me a better photographer for my clients.  It helps me remember that it is not always easy to be relaxed when there is a camera pointing at you, it can be stressful picking out outfits for the whole family, etc.   So I definitely ‘get’ what my clients go through before, during and after a session and that helps me make photo sessions for my clients a relaxing and very enjoyable experience.

Ever since I was introduced to Michele’s (PinkleToes) work I wanted to have her take our family pictures. I tried to convince Victor to fly down to Austin (where Michele lives) and have our pictures done there but for a reason unknown to me, he did not go for it;)

So back in May of 2013, when Michele planned a PinkleToes Workshop reunion that took place in New York, you better believe that I emailed her right away asking if we could do a session.  Having a session with one of oldest photography ‘crushes’ (who later on became an amazing friend) in my favorite city in the world was beyond words AWESOME!   We had some issues with the weather (torrential downpours the day of the session) and it even rained on the ‘rain’ date but despite all that, we all had a great time.  And I cannot be more thrilled with the images Michele captured for us.

Now I just need to find place in our home to display all these stunning images!:)
