Visiting Amish Country | NJ photographer
Over the weekend we went on a mini-vacation with the girls to Pennsylvania. The original goal of the trip was to go to Hersey Park but because Hersey hotels were all booked up, we decided to stay in Lancaster and combine visit to the park with a trip to Amish Country. And I am so glad we did that – the town of Lancaster was very pleasant – and we even made friends with two police horses! And we ended up enjoying attractions of Amish Country even more than Hersey Park and Chocolate Factory!
It was absolutely lovely – we saw covered bridges and beautiful rolling hills, fields upon fields upon fields of corn, alfa-alfa and tobacco, took a buggy ride (definitely touristy but very informative and fun nonetheless) and had an amish feast at Plain and Fancy, saw lots of Amish riding on buggies, bikes and even rollerblades, and ‘discovered’ Hopewell Furnace – a very cool national historic site! It was such a lovely weekend – a great way to end the summer!
