Capturing family memories in Ridgewood

How I LOVE photographing this Ridgewood family!  They first had their family photo session with me two years ago, when W. was just a toddler and his sister Ms. E. was still in her Mamma’s belly.  And then I photographed them last year, when Ms. E. was just under a year old!   I LOVE being their family photographer and feel that it is such an honor and privilege (and just plain COOL!) to see this family expand and the kids grow! – somehow their parents tend to look the same and not age year after year!:)

Whenever my clients come back to me for a second, third, forth session I always try to make sure that each session has a different look and feel.  With this family, their very first photo session with me was done at their home in Ridgewood.  Last year we split it up between a park in Wyckoff and their home.  And this year I recommended that we start the photo shoot in Downtown Ridgewood and then go back to their home.  They took my recommendations and I am thrilled that they did – I think Ridgewood serves as a beautiful backdrop for family pictures!  And in my opinion, photo shoots held downtown are even more special for Ridgewood families because we get to capture our beautiful town in family images!  When I had my own family session, downtown Ridgewood is one of the places where we went!

A few days prior their session I had a dream about Ms. E – looking super cute with a big red ponytail.  When I saw her in person, she did not have red hair but she looked just as cute (if not cuter!) than she did in my dream!  She has quite a personality!  When I was talking to the Mom re clothing outfits she said that she RARELY has a say in what her not-even-2-year-old daughter wears – E. picks her own clothing and apparently has a very unique sense of style!:)  I did like what she picked out to wear for the photo shoot:)

And W. was such a ham!  When I photographed him first the first first time two years ago, he did not want to have much to do with me, although we did get beautiful lifestyle family images, which his parents (AND I) love.  At the family photo session last year W had a blast with me and apparently kept asking about me for days after the session!

This year his sister joined in the ‘Lena-adoration’ club – she wanted to run with me, hold my hands and give me hugs!  Seriously, I got a lot more love from these two than I do from my own children – it felt awesome to be SOOOO loved:)

Enjoy these images – hope you can see the joy in them and hear the laughter – as I do!
