Five reasons why you should schedule at-home family photo session | Saturday Morning Fun at home Bergen County family photo session

Any Bergen County photographer knows that fall is a very busy time for family photos – so many people want images with beautiful foliage and I don’t blame them – fall is a very beautiful time of year. But there is something to be said about doing a family photo session in the winter. For one – everything seems to be a lot calmer than it is in the fall, less rushed. And if you are doing a family session at home (and let me tell you – I LOVE at home family photo sessions) then there is really not much difference when you do it. So winter is a great time to do your family photo session below it allows you to slow down and focus on what you love to do – spending time with your loved ones!

If these guys look familiar it’s because they’ve been featured here many many many times – I’ve been working with this family for over a decade now doing several sessions a year, every year. When you work so closely with someone they become more than clients and I truly love seeing them every time – I love getting hugs from the girls and hearing about their school adventures, I love seeing my work displayed all over their house, I love catching up with the parents.

I love capturing families in their ‘natural habitat’ doing things that they normally do because that’s the stuff they will want to look back at years from now – be in having bagels and donuts on a Saturday morning or playing a very heated game of Beat the Parents (I am proud to announce that I was able to participate on the ‘Parents’ side and earn a valid point for our team!).

When I was editing these images I had a smile on my face pretty much the whole time because I think I was able to capture joy that was in their house that Saturday morning.

Still not sure if having a Bergen county family photo shoot at home is right for your family? Here are several reasons why you might want to consider having a family photo shoot at home in the winter:

  1. Comfort: This is my number one reason for doing photo shoots at clients home – home is a comfortable and familiar environment, and having a photo shoot there can help everyone feel relaxed and at ease. And having everyone relaxed and at ease leads to really awesome authentic photos!
  2. Convenience: when you have a photo session at home, you don’t need to worry about traveling to my photo studio (even though my Ridgewood photo studio is conveniently located to so many towns in Bergen County) or to another location. You don’t need to worry about traffic either, which is a great reason in itself!
  3. Customization: When you have a photo shoot at home, you can customize the background and surroundings to your liking. Want to capture your kids cute play room? We can do that! Want to showcase your family room that you spent a lot of time renovating/redecorating? We can do that as well! Having your photo session at home will help us create photos that that reflect your family’s style and personality.
  4. Time-efficiency: Having a photo session at home is very time-efficient, as you don’t need to worry about traveling to and from your session location.
  5. Coziness: it is just me or do you also feel especially cozy in the winter, when it is cold out but so nice and warm and cozy inside? We can capture this feeling of coziness in the photos!

And if you are located in Bergen county and want me to capture your every day at a family photo session – reach out – I would love to work with you.

Photographing a party of five in Ridgewood | Bergen County family photographer

This family may look familiar because they are regulars here. Not only I’ve been photographing them since their oldest one was just a year old toddler but they’ve taken advantage of my Baby’s First Year plan when Mr W. made them a family of four and then again when Ms. C. made them a family of five! By the way, if you are expecting a baby and thinking about a newborn session in Bergen County, definitely check out the Baby’s First Year plan – you will not regret it! But I digress:)

I’ve photographed them several time in the last year and it’s always so fun for me to see how much the kids grow and change – and witnessing a baby change from a newborn to a chunky baby to a one year old is pretty special!

As I do with many of my clients, we decided to split up the session between a park in Wyckoff and their home in Ridgewood. The park was a lot of fun and the light was absolutely beautiful and we all had a blast playing ‘red light green light’ and passionate game of a ‘family sandwich’:).

This family photoshoot was scheduled for first thing in the morning on a weekday so after the park Dad and big sister E. had to leave and the rest of us headed to their house for the lifestyle portion of this family photo session. I’ve said it many times and I will say it again – I love love love photographing families in their homes. The kids feel the most at home (pun intended!) and I get to capture them doing things they usually do – be it playing with their favorite stuffed animals, giving their ride-on toys hugs and kisses or laughing with their parents.

We had a blast at home and towards the end big brother W. did not want me to leave – he kept asking me to take one more picture of him:).

And if you are looking for a Bergen County family photographer who specializes in fun and relaxed family photo sessions give me a call – I would love to work with you!

Wyckoff Family Photo session | fun with ‘old’ clients

I’ve said it once and I will say it again – I love returning clients – I love catching up with parents and chatting with the kids – it never ceases to amaze me how much the kids change in such a short period of time all while their parents remain the same!

If these guys look familiar it’s probably because you’ve seen them here on a number of occasions – we’ve done everything from newborn photoshoots to family sessions to holiday photos at the studio. As we were trying to find time on the calendar for this session, the Mom told me that her oldest was just asking her about when they would do their family photos and see Ms Lena – that just really melted my heart!

It was raining for days leading up to this photoshoot and I was worried about them getting muddy in the wet grass but the Mom told me to have faith and I did and it worked out perfectly. We ran around at James McFaul park in Wyckoff (its one of my tried and true locations for family photoshoots in Bergen County), played with bubbles and had some sneaky tickle attacks. And then we headed over to their grandparents house and took photos there – like we do every year. I think it’s so special that these boys have photos with their grandparents as they are growing up. I have plenty of photographs with my own grandparents and I treasure them dearly. So it makes me very happy that I know I am creating images that will be loved for years to come!

And if you like these images and would like to have similar photos of your own family and are looking for a great family photographer in Bergen county – look no more and reach out to me – I would love to work with you!

Fun family photo session in Wyckoff

This was my third time photographing this Ridgewood family (6th if you could holiday photoshoots!) and they are always such fun to photograph! I love watching the boys grow – when we did the first photoshoot little brother L was not even a year old – and look at him now!

We chose a park in Wyckoff as a location for their family photoshoot – the boys loved having a large field to run around it and the evening light was absolutely stunning.

These guys were such troupers – you would not know it looking at the photos but it was literally 96 degrees at the time of their photo session! Despite the heat, we were able to capture many fun family photos that will be proudly displayed in their home.

A Party of Five | Bergen County family photo session

As a family photographer, it’s been my greatest privelege to have clients come back to me for family photos years after year and to watch families grow – from a family of three to a a family of four to a family of five and kids change from chubby toddlers to energetic girls and boys who are full of personalities!

I lost track of how many photo sessions we’ve had together with this family. We did it all – from milestones and Christmas mini sessions at my Ridgewood photo studio, to on-location outdoor Simplicity family sessions to at newborn and family Signature sessions at their Ridgewood home.

When baby#3 was born this Mom took advantage of my Baby’s First Year Plan , which means that this family will have great photographic memories of their last baby’s first year (along with awesome family photos and photos of the older two kids), they save $$$$ with this plan and I get the pleasure of seeing them 4 times a year and watching the kids grow and change! So it’s a win/win/win in my book:)

As you can see from the photos – this was a very fun session and even though there were some pouty faces (who does not feel cranky once in a while!) there was lots of giggles, snuggles and all that good stuff! And I got a big hug and an ‘ I love you Ms Lena’ – at the end of the session, which really made my day!

So if you are located in Bergen County NJ and looking for a great family photographer, reach out to me (your local Bergen County family photographer) – I would love to capture your family memories!
