Mother’s Day Portraits at Ridgewood photo studio

Being a Bergen County family photographer it is not surprising that I LOVE lifestyle family photography – the mess and spontaneity of it – kids blowing bubbles, huge grins (and sometimes tears), board games, snuggles with family pets, bike riding, rock skipping – all of it.  But I have to say that there is something to be said about simple classic and timeless portraits done at a photo studio.  Now I am not talking about portraits where I tell everybody to sit still and stare at me or say ‘cheese’.. I am talking about portraits with no distractions – no busy backgrounds or clutter – portraits where the whole focus is on the people I capture – on getting their personalities come through the images..

These guys are some of my oldest clients – I’ve done countless sessions together – I seriously don’t remember how many unless I go through my computer and literally count them.  I remember G. as a chubby cheeky little girl with elbow dimples and curly hair, calling me a ‘great picture taker’… And every year I watch her grow and turn into a beautiful, funny, smart, talented and sassy girl who is up to my chin now!

This family has no shortage of beautiful professional photos and we also capture images of G. with her Grandma… but I really wanted to create simple classic studio portraits of these three ladies.  And Ridgewood studio Celebrating Motherhood event was the perfect time to do it

I held my first ever Celebrating  Motherhood event at my Ridgewood photo studio at the end of April and what a huge success it was!  I got to see old clients and met a few new ones, my makeup artist worked her magic and made these beautiful Moms and Grandmas look even more stunning than they did before and I got to work my magic and created portraits that I know will be treasured for many years and generations!

I got this text from the Mom when she saw these images “Love them all!  As usual.  Can’t believe you got 35 great pictures!’  But I can only imagine how special they will be when G. looks at them as she grows up…
