I’ve been certified – as a Master Child Photographer, that is:)

Hear ye Hear ye – exciting news you all – I just received a Master Children Photographer certification from National Association of Professional Children Photographers!  This year only 24 Master Certifications in the Child Photography category were awarded world-wide and being recognized among amazingly talented professional photographers is such an honor!

To receive this certification I had to submit a portfolio of 25 images that showed my mastery of light, composition, posing, editing, composition – all elements that contribute to a great image.  A panel of industry acclaimed professional photographers judged every image and provided feedback on the overall portfolio before making a decision to award this certification.  So you can imagine that receiving certification is a pretty big deal – I  may or may not have done a number of happy dances upon hearing the news:)

I’ve been a children and family photographer since 2008 and worked with hundreds of families.  I  have literally thousands of photos of children that I created and narrowing them down to 25 for the master certification portfolio was no easy feat – I  wanted my portfolio to show a variety of diverse images.  So if your child’s image made it to my final set of 25 I  think it’s a pretty big deal!

And now for the fun part: I’ve got something special for all those kids whose images were part of my Master Certification Portfolio.  All of them qualify for a 50% gift certificate towards a newly booked session this year – depending on a session you choose, this translates into a value of up to $275 !

If you already booked a session with me for this year, you can pass that gift certificate to friends or family and let them experience the magic of a Live Love Laugh Photos photoshoot:).    And in return you will receive a beautiful free-standing 5×7 acrylic print of your image – just reach out to me to know me that you transferred your gift certificate.

For the next 25 days I  will be posting images from my Certification Portfolio on Instagram so head over to Instagram now to check them out and to see if an image of your kid made it in.

2019 In Review | Bergen County family photography

At the beginning of each year, as I  slowly ease into work after my mini sabbatical, I  put together a slideshow with images from family and children sessions I  had the prior year.  Going down the memory lane, remembering each session and the memories we captures makes me so happy and I  hope this slideshow will bring a smile to your face as we;l!

Bergen county Christmas photos at Ridgewood photo studio

This was my first time photographing this trio and I  had a BLAST working with them on images for their Christmas cards! And I  think it is safe to say that they enjoyed their Christmas mini session as well:)   They loved my props, the Mom did an awesome job picking out outfits that ‘pops’ against my colors and looked picture-perfect and my snow machine and snow balls were a huge hit with them!  They took advantage of my Free holiday mini session special and I  am super excited about photographing their whole family (including their dog!!) next year!

PSA: all November 23rd mini sessions are sold out but if you are looking to get holiday photos of your kids done in time for Christmas reach out to me ASAP.  I  am offering Christmas cards photos at the studio till the first week of December – with a quick turn around you will have them in time to get your Christmas cards done and mailed out before Christmas!

Downtown Ridgewood photo session with older kids | Bergen County teen photographer

Many parents of older kids – teens and tweens – tell me that they don’t schedule family photo sessions because their kids are too old to be skipping around a park or playing with their toys.  And to that I  say that your kids are NEVER too old for a family photo session!  And while yes it’s true tjat certain things that work well for photoshoots with younger kids won’t work with teens, there is plenty we can do to capture great family images.

Case in point this Ridgewood family with three boys, the youngest of whom is in 8th grade!  The oldest boy was going off to college and this Mom reached out to me because she wanted to have family photos of all five of them together at the end of this chapter in their lives – while all five of them still lived under the same roof.

We chose downtown Ridgewood as a location for this family photo session – I  think this urban backdrop works well for these types of family photoshoots.  I loved getting to know the boys (one of which is in the same middle school as my kids so I  got some inside scoop!), and creating family photos that will forever bring them back to this moment in time.

Photographing tweens and teens at James McFaul Wildlife Center

Being a Bergen County family and children photographer I  mostly photograph families with younger kids…And I  can see why – kids are super cute, they do and say adorable things and they change a lot year after year.  But what about when kids are no longer little kids, when they enter pre-teen and teen years, when chasing after them in backyard, throwing them up in the air or tickling them is not what you do — what do you do then?  Do you stop taking family photos?  No of course not!  My own kids are in middle school now and have entered that a bit of a awkward age – and that does not stop me for photographing them and from scheduling my own family sessions.  These teen years should be captured and treasured just like baby and early childhood years!

Case in point is these three siblings that I’ve had the pleasure of photographing a few times in the past.  The oldest one J. is off at college this year but before she went away we were able to fit in a family session -Mom wanted to have photos of these three captured while all three of them still lived at home.  And I  know that these images will be treasured by all of them as they mark an ending of one chapter in this family’s story and a beginning of a new one!
